Meet our team

At Norkem Optometrist, we pride ourselves on being a client-centered practice, where our dedicated and happy team delivers expert care and personalized service at every visit. We believe in making every client feel valued, ensuring that their experience with us not only meets but exceeds expectations.

Nanda

Nanda has been the heart and soul of her practice for the past 26 years, bringing 32 years of optometric expertise to each patient’s experience. With a career that began over three decades ago, her passion for optometry is clear. Her drive to provide exceptional care has led her to pursue advanced studies with NEWENCO (Boston) and to travel the world, attending conferences and immersing herself in the latest innovations and technologies in eye care. For Nanda, staying current with developments in optometry isn’t just a professional commitment—it’s a way to ensure her patients receive the best care possible.

Nanda views the practice as team-driven and believes that with the dedication and expertise of each team member, they can continually grow and evolve. Together, they make it possible to bring new ideas and improvements that keep the practice at the forefront of eye care.

Though she dedicates much of her time to evolving and enhancing the practice, Nanda treasures moments spent with loved ones. A true travel enthusiast, she finds joy in exploring diverse cultures and feels recharged when she’s immersed in nature.

Cornell

Cornell, our optometrist, has been an integral part of our team for 19 years, bringing both expertise and a compassionate approach to patient care. Her superpower? The ability to truly listen and ask the right questions to uncover the best optical solutions and eye care for each individual.

One aspect of Cornell’s job that often surprises people is how much a comprehensive eye examination can reveal. Beyond vision issues, she can detect signs of other health conditions such as high blood pressure, diabetes, intracranial pressure, thyroid dysfunction, and even sleep apnea — showing just how critical eye health is to overall wellness.

Cornell’s advice to patients? Don’t smoke, and maintain a healthy diet and lifestyle to support long-term eye health.

What sets our practice apart, according to Cornell, is the fact that we don’t just offer spectacle prescriptions. We use sophisticated diagnostic equipment and provide specialized services for keratoconus, dry eye, and retinal degenerative conditions. Our practice is also at the forefront of the fight against myopia progression in children, offering advanced treatment options.

Levin

Levin, our Practice Manager, has been with us for 10 years, ensuring that every patient receives exceptional care. Described as loving, caring, and humble, she’s the heart of our team, known for her deep empathy and dedication to personalized service.

Levin’s passion for helping others stems from the love she learned from her father, whom she would choose to have dinner with if given the chance. “I now understand that love conquers everything. The love he gave his children is something I strive to cultivate every day,” she says. This philosophy guides her daily interactions with patients.

When she’s not managing the practice, Levin dreams of traveling to Rome, drawn to its rich history and beauty. But what she loves most is building meaningful connections, both in her travels and in her work.

Levin believes our practice stands out because of its personalized attention. “We prioritize empathy and understanding,” she says, making patients feel valued and supported. Her greatest strength is her ability to connect with patients on a personal level, fostering trust and warmth with each interaction.

Through her leadership and compassion, Levin continues to make a lasting impact on our patients and our practice.

Tsitsi

Tsitsi has been with us for four years, managing debtors, creditors, and stock with precision and care. Beyond her administrative expertise, she brings patience and empathy to her role, always ensuring that patients feel understood and supported.

Outside of work, Tsitsi enjoys spending time with her family. She loves cooking, baking, and crafting with her son, finding joy in creativity and quality moments together. Family is incredibly important to Tsitsi, and when asked about her favorite place to visit, her answer is simple: home. It’s where she gets to spend time with her dad and sisters, a connection that she treasures deeply.
If she could have dinner with anyone, it would be her late mother, whom she describes as “a well of wisdom” and the best person she ever knew. That bond continues to influence Tsitsi’s life and the way she approaches her work and personal relationships.

Her advice to patients? Get your eyes checked every year. Tsitsi is a strong advocate for preventive eye care, stressing the importance of regular checkups, as eye health is often overlooked.

Tsitsi’s superpower lies in her ability to be both patient and empathetic, qualities that shine through in every interaction she has with patients and team members alike.

Carli

Carli spend most of her time teaching English, and helps out part time at our practice. Carli assists our clients and supports the team wherever needed. Her dedication to helping others find the perfect optical solutions makes her a valuable part of our practice.

For Carli, a successful day means helping clients find exactly what they need, whether it’s a cleaning spray for smudged glasses or a bold frame that reflects their true personality. “Making their vision clearer is always our priority,” she says, and being part of that process brings her great satisfaction.

What Carli enjoys most about working with the team is the dependability and kind-hearted nature of her colleagues. “They’re always pleasant to be around and uplift each other,” she shares, highlighting the positive environment at the practice.

The most rewarding part of Carli’s role is witnessing the transformative moment when clients put on their new frames and see clearly. “Being involved in the entire journey, from helping them choose a frame they love to hearing them say, ‘I can see!’ is incredibly fulfilling.”

Zimasa

Zimasa is our Optical Dispenser, joining the team this year. With her qualifications, she brings added depth to our services, expertly suggesting the best products tailored to each patient’s needs. Her skills also extend to assisting with repairs, ensuring our clients receive comprehensive support.

For Zimasa, a successful day at the practice means accomplishing her goals and creating something of value that positively impacts patients. She believes that every interaction matters, and she strives to make each one meaningful.

Her superpower lies in her ability to listen and understand the needs of our clients. This empathetic approach allows her to assist them effectively, ensuring they leave satisfied with their optical solutions.

When it comes to eye health, Zimasa advises patients to maintain a healthy, balanced diet, rich in leafy greens and omega-3 fatty acids from fish. She emphasizes the importance of using protective eyewear and avoiding eye strain, underscoring her commitment to their long-term well-being.

The most rewarding part of Zimasa’s role is fulfilling her tasks and seizing opportunities for skills development, allowing her to grow within the field.

Describing herself as kind, hard-working, and reliable, Zimasa embodies the values we hold dear in our practice, making her an invaluable addition to our team.

Thobile

I am a very quiet person and love to sing.

I have been with Norkem Optometrist for over two years now.

Absolutely love helping patients because I would love to see them being comfortable in the spectacles they choose otherwise if they don’t choose something they like they end up not wearing their glasses and that might lead to making their vision deteriorate.

I love the fact that we can help people take care of their eyes as they are important as any part of their body.

99% client satisfaction rate!
